Mr. Emery Paquin - Member

Mr. Paquin has almost 28 years of experience related to environmental management. He is skilled in the planning, development and implementation of strategic, policy and program activities and knowledgeable in northern air, land and water management, government operations and territorial and federal environmental legislation and policies.

He has served in many capacities with the Environmental Protection Division at the Government of the Northwest Territories – from Environmental Technologist to Director.

Throughout his time with the GNWT, he has lead on several initiatives including revisions to and drafting of several pieces of environmental legislation, compliance guidelines and the NWT Greenhouse Gas Strategy. Mr. Paquin has contributed to NWT Devolution negotiations with respect to waste sites, played a lead role on the Giant Mine Cooperation Agreement, and created the Department’s first Internet-based, searchable database for hazardous material spills and air quality.

Mr. Paquin holds a Biological Sciences Diploma (Honours) from the Nortehrn Alberta Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Victoria.
