Mr. David Emery - Member Born in Montreal, David Emery obtained a B.Sc. in Honours Geology from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters and Doctorate from Harvard University. Early employment included seismic work in Alberta and mineral exploration and geological mapping in northern parts of Labrador, Quebec (Ungava), Ontario and Manitoba. Later he entered mine work, initially in nickel mines of Ontario and subsequently in one of the Yellowknife gold mines and its associated gold mines at Timmins, Ontario. He was President and Managing Director of the gold mines for a number of years prior to his retirement. He and his family lived in Yellowknife for 23 years. During this time he was involved in a number of organizations. He served as; President of the NWT Mine Safety Association, President of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of the NWT, Chairman of the Stanton Yellowknife Hospital Board and Chairman of the Northern Mineral Advisory Committee of the NWT and Yukon (which reported to the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs). He also served terms on the NWT Labour Board, the Territorial Hospital Insurance Services Board and the Yellowknife Board of Trade. He was appointed to the Northwest Territories Water Board in 1991.
