Mr. Peter Bannon

Mr. Bannon was appointed a member of the Northwest Territories Water Board in 2009 on the nomination of Environment Canada.

Mr. Bannon has over 30 years of resource and environmental management experience in the Northwest Territories. He held positions with Environment Canada, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Aboriginal and Intergovernmental Affairs and the Office of Devolution (GNWT) in Yellowknife, Inuvik and Iqaluit (Nunavut). He worked extensively in the field of water management and with the NWT Water Board throughout the 1980's and then held senior management positions for fifteen years, before retiring in 2007. He currently works as a part-time consultant and lives in Yellowknife.

Mr. Bannon was a member of the groups established to develop the Northwest Territories Waters Act, the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act (MVRMA) and the Nunavut Waters and Nunavut Surface Rights Tribunal Act. His board membership experience includes the Environmental Impact and Review Board for the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (12 years), the Mackenzie Valley Review Board (2009).

Mr. Bannon is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where he received his Bachelor in Environmental Studies and Fanshawe College, where he received a diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology.
